Best service, best volunteers! We had to put our beloved Black Labrador down last July 2015. My husband was devastated. He had lost his mother that same year in March, his father in June and then his best friend that July. He found himself in a state of depression and I didn't know what to do. I wanted to get another lab, but he kept saying no. He wasn't ready. Nobody would be able to fill those shoes. April of this year, I had a feeling that I need to go to the Humane Society here in Saukville. Something was calling me to go there. So we went. My husband was along and wasn't happy, but went along to appease his wife. As we were looking at the dogs, we found one black lab, but hubby said no. as we were looking at the rest of the dogs, checking out each kennel one by one...my heart started to sink because none of the pups there seemed to be a fit for us. HOWEVER, I turned the corner of the last aisle and came across the most adorable face. Stunning resemblance of our Murphy. My heart lept with excitement and I called for my hubby who was draggin his feet just wanting to go home. I yelled for him to come check this little fella out. He was black labrador mixed with unknown. My husband came around the corner and his first words were, "WHOA". I wanted to visit with him! I told my husband that he's the one. But, hubby being reluctant, said only if he behaves. So we got to visit with him and he ran out of the kennels and sat at our feet. He was full of love and I knew we had to take him home right there. My husband said he'd have to think about it. I looked up with my big blue eyes filling up with tears and he said...okay. but he's your dog! We got Jack in April of this year. He has not only been a joy to us, but he has brought joy to everyone he meets. OH! And my husband is almost back to his happy self again. It's like our lives were made whole again. And we cannot thank the Humane Society enough for what they do! The pups name was Sheldon. We renamed him Jack. Cuz he's my dog, and my name is Jill!
