Back in 1963, two teenagers living across the street from each other in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, decided to trade in their traditional musical instruments, Ar Kriegel, the trombone for the guitar, and Herb Hohnke, the accordion for the bass guitar. The Ricochettes were born. Over the years the lineup has changed a few times, but never the music. Dubbed “Milwaukee’s Beatles” in 1964, the Ricochettes had a number of released singles including “Come in My Love” which sold over 10,000 copies in the Milwaukee area.
Between 1963 and 1967 the Ricochettes performed with:
The Rolling Stones; The Hollies; Herman’s Hermits; Peter & Gordon; The Dave Clark 5; The Kinks; Chad & Jeremy; Wayne Fontana and The Mindbenders; The Searchers; Chubby Checker; The Animals; Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels; The Byrds; The Yardbirds; The New Colony Six; The McCoys; The Flock; The Ideals; The Zombies; and The Moody Blues.
The group broke up in 1967 with members pursuing varied musical interests throughout the years. But after a sell-out reunion concert in 2008 at Serb Hall in Milwaukee, the Ricochettes have now reformed and gone back to their roots. Their goal: to give their audience the very best of British Invasion and American rock and roll from the mid 1960’s.
With tight vocal harmonies and authentic instrumental sounds, the Ricochettes perform music that all ages can enjoy. The Ricochettes play music by: The Beatles, The Hollies, Herman’s Hermits, The Searchers, Dave Clark 5, The Lovin’ Spoonful, The Everly Brothers, The Byrds, The Turtles, The Beau Brummels, We Five, Gerry and The Pacemakers, The Kinks, Manfred Mann and more. Take the time machine ride to the 1960’s with The Ricochettes and enjoy good music and a great time.
The Ricochettes current lineup includes:
Jerry Wollenzien – vocals, guitar (New Berlin, WI)
